‘Lifeboat to Cairo’ is a charity Ska night raising funds for the Falmouth Lifeboat.
Falmouth Lifeboat are currently trying to raise £100,000 toward the cost of improvements to the lifeboat station, ahead of the arrival of the town’s new Atlantic Class inshore Lifeboat in 2019. 2017 is the lifeboat station’s 150th anniversary year – the station was established in 1867 in response to a number of shipwrecks in the Falmouth area. Its first lifeboat was a 33 foot, 10 oared, wooden sailing boat which was funded by the people of Gloucester.
Now, in 2017, the Falmouth RNLI appeal aims to raise £100,000 towards the total cost of alterations and upgrades to the station. These improvements are needed to ensure the station is ready to receive a sexy new Atlantic 85 lifeboat in two year’s time.
Lots of fundraisers are being held around Falmouth during 2017 but this particular event is being hosted by the fundraising committee Pink Wig (Emma, Michelle, Kath, Sue & Jay)
who want to do their bit to help support their local Lifeboat Crew. The fabulous Los Palmas 7 will be providing SKA music throughout the evening and the Football Club will be selling food!
Los Palmas 7
Los Palmas 7 are (as you might guess) a 7 piece SKA band. They play Reggae, Ska and a bit more Ska.
Well known for getting the party going they cover a great selection of classic Two Tone hits by artists such as UB40, Madness, the Specials, Bad Manners but are also influenced by more recent bands like The Toasters & Bombskare.
Tickets are £10 each and are available to buy from any of the committee members or from Tanya’s Courage Trust charity shop in Penryn. All proceeds will go straight to the Appeal.
