Rose Cottage Tavern
Rose Cottage Tavern is a lovely 800 year old inn that started life as a single story, single roomed, thatched cottage providing home brewed beer and simple accommodation in rural Redruth. Over the years it became rather infamous and by 2015 had become badly neglected as well. Rescued by a new owner it is now gaining recognition as a GastroPub serving unpretentious but delicious, quality food and drink, in a friendly atmosphere. The owner is also a fan of live music and has recently puts on bands like The Dead Lilyz, 558, Blackout and Los Palmas 7. Keen to become a pioneering entertainment venue for “philosophical contemporary art & retro music” they are now hosting a punk night which will be headlined by 1970’s music innovators, The Vibrators.
Formed in 1976 the Vibrator’s first gig was supporting The Stranglers at Hornsey Art College in North London. They also supported The Sex Pistols and were one of the bands playing at the now legendary 100 Club Punk Rock Festival in September 1976. As a band they didn’t have very much chart success but a song on their debut album Pure Mania, influenced the name of Belfast punk legends Stiff Little Fingers. Second wave punk band The Exploited covered the Vibrators’ song “Troops of Tomorrow” and used it as the title track for their 1982 album, and the Vibrators are known to have influenced punk bands as far afield as Poland and Brazil.
With a career spanning 42 years, these first wave UK punk heros’ motto is now to “Keep Going” and they are doing just that. January 2018 see’s them touring in Poland & Germany, then France & Belgium before returning to the UK and making their way down to deep dark Cornwall for St Patrick’s day.
