This is a one day FREE Bank Holiday Music, Food and Drink Festival featuring some fantastic bands and artists, hand picked for their talent and their wide appeal. The festival marquee is open to all ages and so far the line up includes Stone Roots, Sam Richardson & Band, Milo Gore, Lily Lyons and headliners The Velvet Hands. There will also be some solo and duo acoustic acts from the fabulous Truro College Music Programme throughout the afternoon.
Rain or shine this is the place to be! The performances will be held in a large marquee in Lemon Quay, which will be dressed and decorated with drapes, festoon lighting and coconut matting to make a nice cosy and informal space. Food will be available from Craftworks Street Kitchen, PUNK THAI & Big Pan Parties, and there will also be a gin shop provided by Elemental Cornish Gin and a large bar (St Austell Brewery).
Meet the bands….
Funk-pop band Stone Roots combine soulful vocals with tight-knit funk grooves, creating an infectious, energetic sound that’s guaranteed to get you moving.
are a charming 5 piece who wonderfully harmonise smooth flowing indie-pop, with rich powerful rock riffs, all the while expressing raw energy and talent on stage.
Sam Richardson hails from the rugged north coast of Cornwall. Sam’s Roots-Rock and Heartland-Rock inspired songs (Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and John Mayer) are reminiscent of the days when imagery and stories played a key role in the songwriting process.
Lily is a soulful 20-year-old singer-songwriter from South West London who has been quietly making her not so quiet way around the UK gigging scene for the past year.
The Velvet Hands
Headliners The Velvet Hands are much loved in Cornwall and have wowed festival goers at Boardmasters, Port Eliot Festival and Leopallooza, among others. Now based in London these youthful Cornish rockers have already been compared to The Stones, Jonny Thunders and The Strokes! They have been BBC Introducing’s national Record of the week and Huw Stephens has them on his Radio 1, Best of BBC Introducing playlist.
The Live Lounge event is organised by Old Bakery Studios, supported by Cornwall Council, Truro Placeshaping Project, Truro Marquees and guarded by Coast to Coast Security.
